Abstract
PURPOSE: To determine the molecular weight distribution of the respective sections of a column method within a short time period with the use of a gel permeation chromatography by stepwise eluding the separated polymer from a column charging material through a stepwise temperature rise.
CONSTITUTION: A composition separating device A equipped with a valve adjusting device Ab is heated by an automatic temperature adjusting device to such a temperature as to completely dissolve a test polymer in a solvent used. Througth a solvent supplying device C for compensating the thermal shrinkage of separating columns n as well as for carrying a polymer solution, the test polymer from a sample injecting unit K is introduced in a preset quantity through a preset quantity loop m into the columns n. Then, the device A is cooled so that a portion of the polymer is separated. The solution containing only the unseparated polymer is carried to a molecular sizing device B so that the concentration and the special chemical structure are detected by a detecting device D. The data thus detected are recorded in a recorder Da. Then, the temperature of the device A is stepwise raised so that the polymer sections separated as to their slubility are fed to the device B in a batch manner.
