Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a Sendzimir roll having wear resistance at a low production cost, by use of an alloy comprising specific amounts of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo, and Fe, contg. no V, Mn being contained in a relatively large amount.
CONSTITUTION: A Sendzimir roll comprises 1.4W1.6% C, ≤0.6 % Si, 0.8W1.2 % Mn, 11W13 % Cr, 0.8W1.2 % Mo, the balance being Fe and impurities. The roll having this composition contains no V in order to reduce production cost, and the amount of Mn is increased to prevent the degradation in hardening property, so that the roll retains wear resistance equal to that of conventional rolls.
