Abstract

PURPOSE: To keep the sealing performance high even though either of both inner and outer fluid pressures becomes higher than the other by making the outside and inside diameters of the seal face greater and less than the average diameter of the metal bellows respectively.
CONSTITUTION: When the pressure of fluid X is higher than that of fluid Y, the seal ring 6 is pressed in the direction of sealing face S1, the force is equal to a one produced by the pressure difference between the fluid X and the fluid Y that act on the ringwise area the outside diameter of which is equal to the average diameter of bellows and the inside diameter of which is equal to that of the sealing face S1. The seal ring 7 is pressed in the direction of sealing face S2, the force is equal to a one produced by the pressure difference between the fluid X and the fluid Y that act on the ringwise area the outside diameter of which is equal to the average diameter of the metal bellows 8 and the inside diameter of which is equal to that of the sealing face S2. Thus sealing pressures of the sealing faces S1, S2 are increased even though the pressure of fluid X becomes higher than that of fluid Y.
