Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a fluid bearing, in which a bore is formed in the piston shaft for communicating pressurizing chambers with each other, and clearance is formed between the piston shaft and cylinder so that thrust load produced by the screw is supported by hydraulic oil having a high viscosity and axial movement of the screw can be made controllable. CONSTITUTION:piston shaft 4 connected to the gear of screw shaft consists of small-diametered portions 6 and large-diametered portions 5, so that outlet chambers 8 and pressurizing chambers 9 are formed in cylinder 7. Bore 10 is formed at the center of piston shaft 4 for communicating pressuring chambers 9 with each other. Further, clearance H is formed between cylinder 7 and portions 5, 6 of piston shaft 4 for permitting axial movement and rotation of piston shaft 4. To this bearing, oil having a high viscosity is supplied under pressure from a hydraulic unit via flow control valve to support thrust load produced by the screw.
