Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve the increase in the life of dies, the rationalization of plating pretreating process and the reduction of spatter production quantity by containing the specified amount of sulfur to sodium stearate as the drawing lubricant of the raw wire. CONSTITUTION:The lubricant composed primarily of the water soluble lubricant composed of the alkali metal salt of at least one of stearic acid, oleic acid and palmitic acid containing powder-form sulfur at 0.5 or over and up to 10% is used in drawing the wire for automatic welding. The lubricating effect of this lubricant is far superior to that of the lubricants composed primarily of lime and the rmoval of the residual lubricant from the wire surface after drawing is fairly easier through hot water washing or the like. Hence, the pretreatment process may be saved in the case of copper plating and when the wire is straightly used after drawing, the production amount of spatter is extremely less even if the residual amount of the lubricant is large. The addition of a rust inhibitor to this lubricant enables superior rust-inhibiting power to be obtained.
