Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable print photographs of good color balances to be obtained by accurately detecting those which produce color failure among original color pictures and subjecting these original color images to the predetermined color correction.
CONSTITUTION: A measuring part 10 secondarily scans original color pictures and measures the quantity of transmission light at a plurality of measuring points. The hues of the blue density B, green density G, red density R, white density LATDW, large area mean transmission density LATD at each point having been obtained as a result of this are sent to a characteristic value operating part 11, where the characteristic values, etc. of the differences of the area rates of the specific colors (red, blue, green, yellow) and their complementary colors are calculated. These characteristic values are sent to a judgement part 12, where they are compared with reference values and those which produce color failure are classified. Thereupon, the preset color key or lower correction is applied to the original pictures which produce color failure, whereby color correction is accomplished and the prints of good color balances may be obtained.
