Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the frequency of the head crush by detecting the contactors via the acoustic discharge detector for the magnetic head and the magnetic disk and then giving the repetitive and reciprocal positioning control to the magnetic head with a larger distance than the head slider width. CONSTITUTION:When a contact (head hit) occurs between the magnetic head and the magnetic disk, the contact is detected via the acoustic discharge detector consisting of piezoelectric element 1 loaded to the tip part of the magnetic head, capacitor 2 of the resonance circuit and coil 3. And in case the detection signal caused by the head hit becomes continuous exceeding the prescribed level, carriage 21 is shifted by control part 20 to give the repetitive and reciprocal positioning control to the magnetice head with a larger distance than the slider width of the magnetic head. As a result, the dust or stains sticking to the magnetic head and the magnetic disk can be removed.
