Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify unify, and compact the structure of catalyst converter thoroughly. CONSTITUTION:The semi-circular front flanges 8a and 9a, formed to the upper and lower holding plates 8 and 9 of the first catalyst container 7, are inserted into between the lower periphery of the inlet part 14 and the front edge 2a of the lower shell 2 and then welded muturally, and the flat rear fanges 8b and 9b are fixed to the central part of the inside surface of the upper shell 1 by welding. The mutually superposable side flanges 8e and 9e are superposed over the both sides of the upper and lower holding plates 8 and 9 and then clamped by the side flanges 1b and 2b of the upper and lower shells 1 and 2, and the fours 1b, 8e, 9e, and 2b are fixed by welding. The secondary catalyst container 10 has a rotationally symmetrical structure in relation to the first catalyst 7, in which the secondary air nozzle 13 is a rotational center.
