Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to measure simultaneously GC and a mass spectrum in a mass spectrometer by supplying analyzed gas to electron bombardment type ion sources for mass analysis and gas chromatrogram GC detection at the same time.
CONSTITUTION: After passing through the He separator, gas molecules including a GC component are supplied from sample intake 29 to mass analyzing ionization box 23' and GC detection ionization box 24' at the same time. Molecules, ionized by electron bombardment type ion source 24 in box 24', are pushed out to repeller electrode 25 and focusing slit 32, where they are accelerated and focused respectively, and secondary electron multiplier tube 33 and fine-current detector 26 detect them, so that chromatogram 34 will be drawn which depends upon the ionization cross section of the substance. The component in box 23', on the other hand, is ionized by electron bombardment type ion source 23 and mass spectrum 37 corresponding completely to chromatogram 34 can be obtained by mass spectrometer 35 and fine-current detector 36.
