Abstract

PURPOSE:To remove yellow to orange yellow stain caused on reducing photographic images with a ceric compound, by processing the images with a solution containing a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:Photographic images are processed with a photographic reducing solution containing a ceric compound as a main reducer. After rinsing or water washing of the reduced images, they are processed with a stain removing solution containing one or more of the following compounds: dithionous acid (its alkali metal salt), H2O2, organic or inorganic peroxide or H2O2 adduct, NH2OH (inorganic or organic acid salt), hydrazine (inorganic or organic salt), thiourea, ethylenethiourea, mercaptocarboxylic acid (alkali metal salt), alkylaminoalkylthiole. Addition of tartaric acid, aminopolycarboxylic acid, pyro- or poly- phospholic acid to these solution further prevents occurrence of turbidity of the solution resulting from the above processing.
