Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain satd. liquefied carbon dioxide in a small apparatus at a low manufacturing cost by liquefying compressed, cooled and dehumidified carbon dioxide with liquefied carbon dioxide supercooled with a refrigerant such as flon.
CONSTITUTION: Feed carbon dioxide is compressed to 25 kg/cm2G in two stages in compression parts 1,4, cooled to 20°C with liquefied flon in coolers 3,5, dehumidified in adsorption dehumidification towers 6,6', cooled to -5°C in cooler 7, and fed to line mixer 8. On the other hand, liquefied carbon dioxide is drawn out of rectifying tower 10, compressed to 25 kg/cm2G with circulating pump 12, supercooled to -45°C with liquefied flon of -50°C in circulating liquefied carbon dioxide supercooler 13, and fed to mixer 8 together with the above low temp. dry carbon dioxide. In mixer 8 the dry carbon dioxide is liquefied by vapor-liquid mixing to obtain satd. liquefied carbon dioxide of 24 kg/cm2G and -16°C, which is then supercooled to -25°C in supercooler 9 and rectified in tower under reduced press.
