Abstract

PURPOSE: To stably support a roll of small diameter but large length or the like, by providing static pressure thrust bearings movably in the longitudinal direction of the roll and interposing a spring between the thrust bearing and a bearing housing.
CONSTITUTION: The thrust bearing 5 is provided in the bearing housing 4 so that the thrust bearing can move in the axial direction of the roll 1. The thrust bearing 5 has a pressure reception surface 5a on the side of the end of the roll. The thrust collar 6 having a push surface 6a corresponding to the pressure reception surface 5a is fitted on the part of the roll 1, which projects from the thrust bearing. The thrust collar 6 is coupled to the roll 1 by a key 7 so that the thrust collar can move in the axial direction of the roll and follow up the rotation thereof. Nuts 12 are screw-engaged on both the ends of the roll 1. The leaf spring is interposed between the thrust bearing 5 and the bearing housing 4 to apply tension to the roll 1. The push surface 6a of the thrust collar 6 and the pressure reception surface 5a of the thrust bearing 5 are thus always concentrically adjoined to each other.
