Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent that uncombusted gas contained in the exhaust-gas of a diesel engine is discharged to the outside at the time of starting engine, by providing a fuel injection means and an electric igniting means in the passage of exhaust gas.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel injection means 2 and an electric igniting means 3 are provided in exhaust pipe 1 of diesel engine. Electric inputs to electromagnetic valve 5 and igniting means 3 are given from control circuit 6. Rotation of engine is started at point A shown in the drawing, fuel is ignited at point B, all cylinders are ignited at point C, and output is taken out at point D. Here, the control circuit 6 is designed to open electromagnetic valve 5 and to pass current to electric igniting means 3 from point A to point C or from point A to point D. By this giving heat to uncombusted gas discharged at the time of starting diesel engine and thereby combusting the uncombusted gas completely, it is enabled to purify the exhaust gas.
