Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a cosmetic packing agent having rapid drying characteristics, and excellent releasability of the formed film after use, by using a modified polyvinyl alcohol obtained by making a part of OH of polyvinyl alcohol hydrophobic with a silylating agent, as a film-forming material. CONSTITUTION:A polyvinyl alcohol having a residual acetic acid group content of <=25mol%, is made to react with a silylating agent to obtain a modified polyvinyl alcohol wherein the content of unreacted OH is 70-90mol%, the sum of acetic acid group and the group reacted with the silylating group is 30-10mol%, and the content of the group reacted with the silylating group is >=5mol%. The modified polyvinyl alcohol is used as a film-forming material of a cosmetic packing agent. The film-forming material may contain <=70wt% of unmodified polyvinyl alcohol. The packing agent thus prepared can be easily applied to the skin, and dried rapidly. The formed film can be released from the skin completely and easily, without causing pain or pulling feelings to the skin.
