Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title cooling material having improved cooling power and freeze resistance, by blending a colloidal water dispersion comprising a specific ratio of galactomannan, α-starch, and propylene glycol with borax, etc., followed by gelation.
CONSTITUTION: A) 2W10wt% of galactomannan (preferably Guar gum) is wetted with B) 0W20wt% of propylene glycol, mixed with water uniformly, and blended with C) 0.5W5wt% of α-starch to give colloidal water dispersion, which is blended with D) borax and/or boric acid and made to gel to give the desired cooling material. To obtain a preferable degree of gelation, in a use of borax or boric acid alone, its amount is 0.05W1wt%, and when both borax and boric acid are used, 0.01W 3wt% of borax is preferably mixed with 0.01W5wt% of boric acid.
EFFECT: When a container is broken and the content is brought into contact with the human body or foods, it is safe.
