PURPOSE:To improve color reproducibility by generating eight 45 deg.-out-of-phase signals by dividing, by providing VCO which oscillates at a frequency of 320fH (fH: horizontal frequency). CONSTITUTION:In recording, crystal VCO22 oscillates at fSC since its output is phase-compared to a burst signal by PD (phase comparing circuit) 23, and it is used for killer detection and also input to converter 19. On the other hand, 320fH VCO31 oscillates with accuracy since PLL is formed of 1/8-dividing circuit 32, 1/40- dividing circuit 17 and PD14. From this dividing circuit 32, 45 deg.-out-of-phase signals of 40fH are supplied to eight-phase logic circuit 33. In reproduction, VCO22 is made to run freely and the output of a phase comparison of its output to the burst signal is used to control VCO31. Thus, no color reproduction error happens due to the contents of a luminance signal, and consequently the color reproducibility can be improved.
