Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve mechanical function through smooth discharge of water, snow or iron powder sticking to tread of a wheel, by forming a horizontal groove, with a breadth increasing from the side of the wheel flange, at the center on the slide surface of a brake shoe which is pressed to the external circumference of the wheel.
CONSTITUTION: A brake shoe 3, having a narrow horizontal groove 2 of about 5mm wide for preventing splitting at the center, is a square block bent for keeping close contact with the tread of a wheel 4 and equipped with a bed metal 5, steps 6, 6 attached to the bed metal 5 and a fitting plate 7 to a car body on the rear side. A horizontal groove 3b with a breadth increasing from the side of a flange 4a of the wheel 4 is formed at the center of a slide surface 3a which is pressed to the external circumference of the wheel 4. Both lognitudinal ends of the shoe 3 are notched 3, so that its slide surface 3a is expanded toward the flange side 4a. In addition, the breadth of the groove 3b is also expanded toward the slide surface 3a in the horizontal direction of the brake shoe 3.
