Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a polyester resin compsn. having improved crystallizability, moldability and dimensional stability, by a method wherein a benzoic ester (or a derivative) having a m.p. of not higher than 90°C and a metal salt of a carboxylic acid (said metal being selected from Groups I and II of the Periodic Table) are blended with a polyester in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: (i) 100Pts.wt. of a polyester consisting mainly of polyalkylene terephthalate, (ii) 0.5W20pts.wt. of a benzoic ester (or a derivative) having a m.p. of not higher than 90°C (e.g. ethylene glycol benzoate) and (iii) 0.01W5pts.wt. of a metal salt of a carboxylic acid (e.g. sodium stearate; said metal being selected from Groups I and II of the Periodic Table) are homogenized e.g. by melt-kneading, etc. to obtain the desired compsn. It is preferred to bend part of the component (iii) on the surface of a pellet prior to molding. Further a fibrous reinforcing material such as glass fiber, a filler such as silica, an impact modifier such as acrylic rubber polymer, etc. may be incorporated into the compsn.
