Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the decrease in yield owing to the defect of heat treatment and the degradation of material quality by connecting the inductor of the post annealer and the thermometer which is capable of detecting the temperature distribution in the direction rectangular to the weld line and moving and controlling this so that it positions on the maximum temperature position of the weld zone.
CONSTITUTION: In the welded pipe heat-treatment equipment (post annealer) which forms a strip plate to a circular shape and welds its butt portions, the temperature distributions in the direction rectangular to the weld line 3 are measured with a thermometer 5 having a scanning range 4 and the inductor 7 of the post annealer is so moved in the direction rectangular to the weld line that the maximum point of the temperature distributions come to the reference point 6 of the thermometer. The rotary mirror 8 of the thermometer reflects the infrared rays radiated from the weld line to stationary mirrors 9, 10 and the infrared rays are converted to electric signal by a photoelectric transducer 12 by way of a convex lens 11. The position of the inductor of the post annealer is controlled by this signal.
