Abstract

PURPOSE: To regenerate stannic ion-contg. electrolytic soln. to a stable stannous ion- cont. electrolytic soln. by simple procedure in a short time, by reducing stannic ions contained in a tin salt-contg. electrolytic soln. of a pH not lower than a specific pH value by the reducing action of metal contained in a high-temp. acidic bath while dissolving.
CONSTITUTION: The pH of an electrolytic soln. is decreased to 3 or lower by addition with an acid, then it is heated to a high temp. after the addition of powder, foil, or flake etc. of metallic tin, a magnetic metal, or Zn, Mg or other metals, hereby the stannic ions contained in a tin-contg. electrolytic soln. are reduced to stannous ions by the reducing action of the metal while dissolving. Then the pH of the regenerated electrolytic soln. is either returned to the original value not lower than 4, or the regenerated electrolytic soln. is returned as it is to the electrolytic vessel, subsequently whole soln. in the vessel is controlled at a pH not lower than 4 thereby making possible the electrolysis of the soln.
