Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the residual quantity of ink with reliabiity by applying a member having a color different from the color of ink of applying a color different from the color of ink to part or entire part of an ink tank constituting member. At the opposite side of the obaserving direction 26 side there are appied color indications (Fig. a) such as red indication 11 and yellow indication 10 which mean ''rapid replacement'' and ''preparation for replacement'', from the side close to an ink outlet port 13. When the ink 9 is completely discharged, the interior of the tank 16 is evacuated, and the upper and lower parts of the tank 16 come into contact with each other. As a result, the indications 10 and 11 can be observed with eyes. When the indication 10 becomes visible, it urges to prepare for replacement of the tank 16, and when the indication 11 was confirmed, the tank 16 is replaced (Fig. b).
