Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture a subject pipe being excellent in a shockproof property, by a method wherein plastic coating is performed in two installations by means of a crosshead die type extruder, and a process, in which a beltlike reinforced material is wound in a spiral around an intermediate layer, is in-lined for continuous operation.
CONSTITUTION: An unprocessed steel pipe runs in the arrow direction at a constant speed, and said pipe is first covered as an inner layer with a molten plastic 4 extruded in the cylindrical shape from a crosshead die 2. A beltlike reinforcing material 6 is wound spirally around an outer surface of the plastic 4 by means of a rotary drum 8, and a molten plastic 5 extruded in the cylindrical shape through a crosshead die 3 is then coated as an outer layer on an outer surface of the reinforcing material 6. This permits winding of the reinforcing material 6 around the inner layer being still in a soft state and permits coating of the plastic 5 being in a molten state on the reinforcing material 6. And thereby the inner and outer layer plastics 4 and 5 monolithically twined together through the medium of a gap provided by the reinforcing material 6 is adhered to an original pipe 1. Glass fiber mats, metal meshes, etc. can be used as said reinforcing material 6.
