Abstract
PURPOSE: To make the temp. in an alcohol flowing direction uniform and obtain a high reaction rate by bending each alcohol pass while intersecting a heating gas pass and by setting the upper stream portion of the alcohol pass at the upper stream side of the gas pass.
CONSTITUTION: Reforming apparatus housing 21 is provided with upper heating gas inlet 22 and lower heating gas outlet 23. Each reaction tube 24 is housed in housing 21 so that straight tube portions 24A intersect heating gas pass 25 ranging from inlet 22 to outlet 23. One end of tube 24 located at the upper stream side of pass 25 is provided with alcohol inlet 26, and the outer end located at the lower stream side of pass 25 with reformed gas outlet 27. A heating gas flows from inlet 22 to outlet 23 through passes 25 to heat tubes 24, and when alcohol is supplied into tubes 24 from inlets 26, it is converted into a reformed gas through reforming reaction as it flows through tubes 24. The reformed gas is taken out of outlets 27.
