Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease local consumptions of a restoring electrode and prevent a fault of abnormal machining due to the stagnation of machining liquid in a restoration device of machining electrodes for an electric discharge machine, by rotating the restoring electrode, always changing its machining portion and producing a liquid flow in the machining liquid. CONSTITUTION:Along a restoration track P, a machining electrode 14 is shifted toward the side of a restoration device 16 to allow a correcting electrode 22B to perform the operation of cutting, surface repair, etc. for its consumed parts. At this time, a motor 36 in a rotary drive gear 42 is driven to rotate the restoring electrode 22B about its axial center through a worm 40, worm gear 34, rotary shaft 28 and electrode holder 30. This causes machining faces of the restoring electrode 22B against the machining electrode 14 to be extended fully on its circumference and uniformly consumed. While this rotating motion produces a flow of machining liquid existing in a machining gap between the both electrodes 14, 22B and the flow of this liquid satistactorily discharges the waste of machining liqhid including machining chips, thus to correctly restore the consumed parts of the machining electrode 14.
