Abstract

PURPOSE: To make easy starting on a slope, by installing in a braking mechanism a brake oil pressure holding device in two systems.
CONSTITUTION: An oil pressure check valve in two systems which is in one body with a clutch master cylinder and electromagnetic oil pressure check valves 3 and 4 are piped and connected in two pipe-line systems between a tandem brake cylinder 1 and wheel cylinders 5 and 6. In this arrangement, when a brake pedal is stepped down with an automobile on a slope, the oil pressure generated in the tandem brake master cylinder 1 actuates the front wheel cylinders 5 through an oil pressure check valve 2 in two systems and the electro-magnetic oil pressure check valve 4 and at the same time actuates the rear wheel cylinder 6 through the oil pressure pipe 22 and the electro-magnetic check valve 3 to stop the automobile. After this, when the accelerator pedal is pressed down and the clutch pedal is gradually released, the oil pressure in the wheel cylinders 5 and 6 returns to the tandem brake master cylinder 1 through the piping 10 and 19, which makes the starting easy by keeping the automobile from moving backward.
