Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the temperature rise of the sleeve and enable the use of the heat-resisting steel of low heat conductivity to the sleeve by fitting the sleeve provided with the specific recesses on the outside surface of the sleeve onto the roll shaft having a cooling water hole at its axial center part. CONSTITUTION:The sleeve 4 provided with the under-mentioned sleeves 5 is fitted onto the roll shaft 1 having a cooling water hole 3 at its axial center part and fine diameter parts 2, 2 at both ends. Namely, the sleeve 4 having recesses 5 of 10-70% of its surface area on the outside surface of the sleeve is used. With this method, the sleeve 4 made of heat-resisting steel having multiple recesses 5 on the outside surface of the ordinary roll shaft 1 is shrinkage-fitted and therefore the area of the contact with the continuously cast product (billet) decreases and the continuous casting may be done without water cooling of the billet. Further, the strength and function as a roll are provided by the roll shaft 1 and the counter measure against higher temperature is assumed by the sheeve 4 having the recesses 5.
