Abstract
PURPOSE: A repellent composition, capable of producing improved repellent effect on sanitary harmful insects, e.g. a cockroach, for a long time, and comprising a cellulose derivative and diethyltoluamide, as active constituents.
CONSTITUTION: A reprllent composition comprising (A) 100pts.wt. a cellulose derivative and (B) 1W100pts.wt. a diethyltoluamide, e.g. N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide. The diethyltoluamide (B) has improved repellent effect on sanitary harmful insects, and its mixture with (A) corrects its fatal disadvantage of losing the effect rapidly and sustains the initial effect for a long time. Nitro- or acetylcellulose may be cited as (A). The composition is applied to the object surface by brushing or spraying, or used in the form of a sheet supported by a base material.
