Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the distortion of printed pictures by a method wherein a gutter is lowered at the time of nonprinting by a mechanism provided for moving the gutter up and down and the ink-drip catching port of the gutter is blocked up by a guide block, thereby evaporation of water in the ink being prevented. CONSTITUTION:A gutter 18 being fitted to a gutter stand 20, the gutter stand 20 is pulled downward by a spring 21 so that it can move upward by pushing up by a solenoid 22. When printing is performed, the gutter stand 20 is pushed up by the solenoid 22, thereby an ink-drip catching part 18a of the gutter 18 being projected from the upper surface of a guide block 19. When the printing is not conducted, the energizing source for the solenoid 22 is switched off and the gutter stand 20 is lowered by a contraction force of the spring 21, the ink-drip cathing port 18a of the gutter 18 being blocked up by the guide block 19.
