Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the coarsening of catalyst by a method in which a purge gas is introduced to destroy coarsened particles at the time when a pressure loss begins to reduce by watching the pressure loss of the fluidized bed portion of a catalyst containing a specific proportion of iron in its reduction process. CONSTITUTION:In the fluidized bed portion 6, where the reductive reaction of a catalyst containing 30-60% iron with coke is carried out, the lowering of pressure loss due to the formation of gas-permeable paths occurs in the early period of bogging (coarsening), in which weak bonding occurs among catalysts, and the pnenomenon is watched by the differential pressure meter 15. When the pressure loss is lowered beyond a given value, a purge gas, e.g., nitrogen, etc., from introduction line 16 connected to the CO2 gas-introduction line 7, for example, is introduced at a flow rate of 50cm/sec in order to destroy compatively fragile particles, thus permitting good fluidized condition of catalyst particles to be maintained.
