Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase recording speed and resolution by controlling ion current with a control electrode having multiple holes and specifying the diameter of the holes of the device recording on an electrostatic recording material having a charge holding layer, the thickness of the holding layer and the disposition of the holes respectively to the specific value and specific disposition.
CONSTITUTION: Voltage which is negative to electrostatic recording material 17 having a charge holding layer is applied to a control electrode 10 made of metal. The apparatus is so constituted that high voltage which is negative to the electrostatic recording material 11 is applied to an ion generator 12. It is so formed that charges are applied imagelike on the electrostatic recording material 11 by controlling the ion current induced through corona discharge by the ion generator 12 with the control electrode 10 having multiple holes 10a for passing the ion current. In this case, the diameter 10a of the multiple holes is made 0.5 to 1.2mm and the thickness of the charge holding layer 20 to 200μ. In addition the multiple holes 10a are divided to a number of groups and the holes within the groups are provided mutually forward and backward with respect to the relative moving direction of the recording material and control means. Hence, the electrostatic recorder giving high recording speed and high resolving power may be obtained.
