Abstract

PURPOSE: To accurately and stably determine the position of the cross rail a double housing machine tool, such as a planomiller, by electrically detecting the extension of the cross rail feeding screw by electrical means and compensating the feed utilizing the detection signal generated by the electrical means.
CONSTITUTION: A voltage VS is determined corresponding to the displacement reference point of feed screws 3 and 3'. Analog voltages VA and VB detected by detectors 31 and 31' connected to the feed screws 3 and 3' are transmitted to a control unit and compared with the voltage VS. The voltage VA and VB change in proportion to the change in the extension of the feed screws 3 and 3' when the tool head 4 is biassed on the cross rail in the horizontal direction. This change in the voltage VA and VB are compared by a comparator and correction command corresponding to the differentials between VA and VS, and between VB and VS are inputted to a motorcontrol circuit to actuate the motor.
