Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a sodium leakage detecting element by providing the detecting element with a melt-removable insulating protective film. CONSTITUTION:Two tape-type gold-plated electrodes 1a, 1b are provided on both surfaces of a flexible insulator 2 to form a complex body 3. An insulating fixing tape 4 is wound around the surface of the complex body 3 such that at least a part of the complex body e is exposed. The resulting product is covered with a protective film 6 which has an insulating power and which is molten at a high temperature. As a result, a sodium leakage detecting element having a protective film 6 is obtained. This sodium leakage detecting element is installed in a bottom portion of a guide sheet in a high-rate breeder. When the guide sheet is heated by a heater, the protective film 6 is molten and removed so that the tape type electrodes electrodes 1a, 1b are partially exposed to be ready to detect the leakage of sodium. Accordingly, metal powder can be prevented from sticking to the tape-type electrodes 1a, 1b when the detecting element is installed in a high-rate breeader, so that an erroneous signal is never generated.
