Abstract
PURPOSE: A solid acid or solid base is added to a biologically active substance unstable in liquid state to prevent the denaturation caused by decomposition, polymerization and others, thus increasing the stability.
CONSTITUTION: To a biologically active substance which is unstable in the liq. state is added a solid acid of +6.8W-8.2 Ho such as silica-alumina catalyst, or solid base of 7.1W26.5 Ho such as CaO or ZnO according to H. A. Benesi (1956), thus said active substance is stabilized without changing the pH to behave as an acid or a base, when the mixture is used as a preparation such as aqueous solution, colloid, cream, ointment or cataplasma. However, appropriate selection of solid acids and bases is required so that the optimum weight ratio to the active substance is made small and the zone of effective amount ratio is kept wide.
