Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain local oscillation light and make possible always stable light heterodyne detection by branching part of the emitted light of a laser for light source and applying a suitable frequency shift to this in a laser radar. CONSTITUTION:Infrared light from a CO2 laser 15 is led to a switch 6 via splitter 5 to make CW light to pulse light which is then subjected to TEA amplification 7 and is thence radiated to the observation target. On the other hand, the branched continuous wave is led to an acousto-optic A/O modulator 9a by a mirror 8 and the light emitted by an angle of theta by the excitation of an oscillator 10 is entered to an A/O modulator 9b, by which it again receives the shift of an angle theta and is thence emitted. The shift amount of this angle 2theta results in that the conditions as the local oscillation wave of a heterodyne detector of, e.g., 100MHz in intermediate frequency are provided. This shifted light is entered together with the incident light to a detecting element 2 by way of a mirror 11 and splitter 1.
