Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a layer having simultaneously wear resistance, acid resistance, and corrosion resistance, by burying a material to be treated in a cementing agent made by adding suitable quantities of metallic Cr, Al, halogen compounds, alumina etc. to a boron compound in order to heat-treat the material. CONSTITUTION:In the heat treatment of turbine blades etc., the material to be treated is burried in a cementing agent made by addition of a suitable quantities of powders of metallic chromium, or aluminum, in addition, a halogen compound such as ammonium chloride, sodium bromide etc., and alumina to a boron compound such as potassium perborate etc., then the cementing agent is heated to high temp. while passing hydrogen gas if necessary. The layer formed by this method contains simultaneously chromium and aluminum having excellent corrosion resistance and acid resistance, hence the layer has improved performance in high-temp. environment. The material hereby treated has many uses because of excellent wear resistance due to boron cementing layer.
