Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve heat conductivity by the use of thin materials by restraining the recess formed in a plate fin blank from the circumference in a non-restrained state and pressing the recess to a flat surface thereby making said part to flat plate thicker than the restraining part and forming a heat transfer pipe insertion hole.
CONSTITUTION: A recess 10 of a diameter larger than the heat transfer pipe insertion hole is formed by upper and lower dies to a plate fin blank of a size suitably larger than the finish size in a non-restrained state. At this time, the slightly larger blank becomes close to the finish size on account of forming of the recess 10, thereby maintaining the thickness of the blank. Next, the circumference of the recess 10 of the plate fin 11 thus worked is pressed and restrained by upper and lower fittings 12, 13. In this restrained state, the recess 10 is pressed to flat plate form by upper and lower presses 14, 15. As a result, the curved part volume of the flat plate part 16 is formed to a straight part and said part becomes thicker correspondingly. Thence, a heat transfer pipe insertion lower hole 17 is pierced in the flat plate 16 and the circumferenctial edge is flared and rolled to form a flange part 19. Its end part 20 is curled to the outside.
