Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the extraction efficiency at extraction/separation of metal salt or colloid particles from aqueous phase in the presence of an extracting agent and a diluent by a method wherein the diluent is selected so that the mixed system becomes liquid phase at extracting reaction and becomes solid phase at separating operation.
CONSTITUTION: Metal salt or colloid particles present in an aqueous phase (e.g. water contg. inorganic salts such as UCl2, FeCl3, VCl5, and water contg. colloid particles such as Fe(OH)3 or its hydrate, SiO2 or its hydrate) is extracted using an extracting agent such as neutral organic phosphorus cpd., β-diketone cpd., polyether, etc. In this case, a diluent is added which is a material solid at room temperature and becoming liquid as temperature rises, and having good compatability. Such material includes aromatic cpd., higher alcohol, higher fatty acid, paraffin, beewax, etc.
