Abstract

PURPOSE: To absorb sags of paper on a double-size transfer cylinder securely and eliminate misregister in double-face printing by a method wherein paper is drawn by the action of a rear-end holding roller and paper drawing roller, and the paper is allowed to slip after elimination of sags.
CONSTITUTION: After a front-end gripper (a) of a double-size transfer cylinder T2 has received paper P from a paper feeding cylinder T1, a rear-end gripper (b) eliminates the sag of the paper P, when the paper P is nipped and drawn by a paper drawing roller 37 and a rear-end holding roller 21. The amount by which the gripper (b) draws the paper P is set on the basis of the sag allowance determined empirically under worst conditions, sags smaller than the setpint are absorbed before completion of movement of the paper drawing roller 37, and the paper P is allowed to slip on the roller 37 after the sags are eliminated. Axial sage also are absorbed completely by arranging rear-end holding rollers 21 and paper drawing rollers 37 radially and symmetrically with respect to the axis of the cylinder T2.
