Abstract

PURPOSE:To mold a band-shaped synthetic resin braid of a nonuniform cross- sectional shape together with end portions integrally by a method wherein a tubular or sheet-shaped synthetic resin blank is nipped by split mold components and then expanded and molded by blowing air. CONSTITUTION:A predetermined amount of synthetic resin blank 12 is extruded from an annular slit 21 of a die 20 coupled to the head of an extruder. The extruded blank 12 as it is still hot is nipped by aplit mold components 31, 32 having an arbitrary-shaped cavity for specifying the configuration of a side braid, then air is blown from an air nozzle 40 into the blank 12 to expand and mold the latter, obtaining a side braid 10 with a hollow main body and bag-shaped end portions 10a, 10b. EFFECT:The degree of freedom of the shape of the braid is infinite, and the size of the brain can be increased easily.
