Abstract

PURPOSE: To store a drop-out color and a reflected ray spectrum of white area of business form, to compare a reflected ray spectrum obtained by scanning with a spectrum which has been stored, and to drop it from a picture signal in case they are similar.
CONSTITUTION: A business form 301 is fed to the upper part shown in Fig. by an optical character reader, and is scanned by a scanning line 306. In an area 302 decided beforehand of the heading of a business form, a drop-out color is printed, and also there is a white area 303. In addition to the foregoing, there are character areas shown by entry frames 304, print frames 305, etc. A reflected ray from the drop-out color area 302 and the white area 303, which have been obtained by the first scanning is resolved by a three primary color filter in order to store the spectrum. A reflected ray spectrum which has scanned the character area is compared with a spectrum which has been stored, and in case they are similar, its reading signal is dropped from a video signal. Thus the limit for using a drop-out color can be loosened remarkably.
