Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the position of a buried material from the position of a flux gate sensor which has sensed the maximum intensity of the magnetic field and from the angle formed by the above described position and the horizontal level by detecting the intensity of the magnetic field of the magnetic buried material at positions more than two.
CONSTITUTION: Flux gate sensers 3A and 3B are mounted rotatably on the parallel arms of a holding mechanism consisting of a parallel motion mechanism, and an operating shaft 5 varying the angles of inclination of both sensers 3A and 3B in synchronism on the perpendicular face through the gear mechanism 4 of the holding mechanism 1. The operating shaft 5 is directly connected to a rotary driving device 6, and the rotation displacement of the operating shaft 5 is formed to interlock with the angle detector 7 of the senser. The intensity of a magnetic field genereted from the magnetic buried material M such as an iron pipe or the like is detected by the sensers 3A and 3B thereby to detect the positions of the sensers 3A snd 3B when the magnetic field becomes the largest. By computing the detected result, the position and depth of the buried material M can be detected.
