Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the construction of an ion detector, reduce the size of the detector and manufacture it inexpensively by providing pretreating means for filtering suspended solid matter in liquid to be detected, removing inhibitory matter therein, thickening or separating objective matter before ion detecting means in the ion detector.
CONSTITUTION: An ion detector consists of a cylinder 1, a pair of stationary filtering tanks 4, pretreating agent 5 such as ion exchange resin, chelate resin or the like, ion selection indicating electrode 6, comparison electrode 7, piston 8 and the like. When the piston 8 is retracted beforehand of the drawing, liquid to be detected is flown into the cylinder 1 as designated by arrows a, suspended solid matter and inhibitory ion are removed by the tanks 4 and the agent 5 from the liquid, and the objective ion is thickened and separated. When the liquid passes between the electrodes 6 and 7, potential responsive to the ion density in the liquid is produced between the electrodes and indicated on a millivoltmeter 9.
