Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the setting of sensitivity which is sensible enough to detect even a light smoke, by providing mutually-crossed slopes in a dark box, installing a light emitter and a light receiver on the slopes respectively and providing a reflection-preventive recess on the slope whereon the light receiver is installed. CONSTITUTION:A light emitter 4 and a light receiver 5 are provided on mutually crossed slopes 2, 3 in a dark box 1 which has gas-permeability. Even if light projected from the light emitter 4 is reflected and scattered by the inside surface of the dark box 1, the scattered light does not go into the light receiver because a reflection-preventive recess 6 is provided on the slope 3 whereon the light receiver 5 is installed. As a result, wrong action is not caused by the reflected light even if the sensitivity of a smoke detector is set high. Rare smoke can thus be detected with high sensitivity.
