Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide rubber compsn. in which working properties are improved without lowering physical properties, by a method wherein 1,2-polybutadiene is blended with natural rubber contg. vulcanized rubber powder and sulfur.
CONSTITUTION: 5W300pts.wt. of vulcanized rubber powder and 4W10pts.wt. of sulfur are blended with 100pts.wt. of a mixt. consisting of 5W80pts.wt. of 1,2- polybutadiene and 95W20pts.wt. of at least one rubber selected from natural rubber and synthetic rubbers. It is preferred to use 1,2-polybutadiene having a vinyl bond content of not less than 70%, crystallinity of not less than 5%, and an intrinsic viscosity [η] of not less than 0.7 (at 30°C in toluene). Such 1,2-polybutadiene can be obtained by using Ziegler type catalyst. When the amount of 1,2-polybutadiene sued in the blend exceeds 80wt%, beneficial result can not be expected and the tensile strength of vulcanized material is lowered. Below 5wt%, improvement in working properties is insufficient.
