Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide blocked polyisocyanate which is useful as a raw material for a paint and well compatible with polyol, obtd. by a method wherein the isocyanate gp. of a specified org. polyisocyanate is completely blocked with an aliph. oxime.
CONSTITUTION: An aliph., alicyclic or arom. diisocyanate is reacted with an adduct-producing agent (e.g. water, tert.-butanol, etc.), which reacts with isocyanate gp. to produce an urea-intermediate product and gas, in a molar ratio of the diisocyanate to the adduct-producing agent of 5W30 at a temp. of 70W200°C to produce an org. polyisocyanate. The org. polyisocyanate is reacted with an aliph. oxime of the formula (wherein R1, R2 are aliph. hydrocarbon gp. which may have side chains; the sum of carbon atoms in R1 and R2 is 5W9) to obtain a blocked polyisocyanate having a weight-average MW of 500W2,000 in which all of isocyanate gp. is completely blocked.
