Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect an LED for an excessive input voltage by connecting a resister in series and parallel to an LED, by connecting a resister in parallel to a series circuit of an LED and a resister, and by protecting an LED against an excessive input voltage. CONSTITUTION:Resisters 6 and 7 are connected to an LED 1 in series and parallel and a Zener diode 8 is connected in parallel to the series circuit of the LED 1 and the resister 6 as a protective resistance. When a direct current input source voltage V is small, a certain amount of current is shunted at a resister 8 and the LED does not emit light, but it emits light for the input exceeding the prescribed voltage. Even when the input exceeded the Zener voltage V2, the voltage is excess of V2 is not applied to the LED. Also, when the power source is connected reversely, the LED is short-circuited by the Zener diode. Hence, a luminous source device without the deterioration and the breakdown of LED can be obtained.
