Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to carry out automatic changeover of the filter paper and exchange of the filter paper during the printing operation by providing a main filter and a reserve filter in parallel thereto in an ink supply route between an ink recovery gutter and an ink jet head. CONSTITUTION:When a main filter 100 becomes clogged and pressure governing becomes impossible by a pressure governing valve 12, a piston 132 gradually moves leftwardly, counter to a spring 136. When a communication hole 137 is opened, the ink from a valve 110 moves to a point B indicated by one-dot chain line, and is fed to an ink jet head through a reserve filter 100'. Simultaneously an ink flow B presses the piston 142 of a valve 140 downward to open communication holes 147 and 147'. Then, the ink from a pressure pump is supplied to the ink jet head through the communication hole 147, reserve filter 100' as indicated by 2-dot chain line C. Valves 110, 120 and 130 are closed, the passage of the main filter 100 is closed, and therefore the filter paper thereof can be exchanged.
