Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the construction of a flow site which is used for the heat exchanger or the like of each of various plants, by providing a rotary drum which is located in cylindrical tempered glass pinched between flanges and which has stripes on the surface and an impeller secured on the axis of the rotary drum.
CONSTITUTION: Cylindrical tempered glass 306 is pinched between flanges 301, 302 and clamped by bolts 304 etc. An impeller 307 is secured in a rotary drum 303. The rotary drum is supported between the flanges by bearing stands 303. Several kinds of stripes of optional length are drawn at equal intervals on the peripheral surface of the rotary drum 303. When the period of illuminating light which goes on and off at a prescribed period is coincident with one movement period of the stripes of on the rotary drum 303, the drum looks stopped. As a result, rotational frequency can be determined. The rotational frequency is converted into a flowing speed. This flowing speed is multiplied by the cross-sectional area of a pipe to determine a flow rate. The flow rate is indicated on the surface of the cylindrical tempered glass so that the flow rate can be found at a glance.
