PURPOSE:To prevent a peripheral portion of an image tube from the degradation of resolution by producing the tube such that the inner surface of the image tube wall corresponding to a visible image output window of the image tube is recessed to be rotationally symmetrical about the axis. CONSTITUTION:An input photoelectric surface 2 is constituted in a vacuum tube 1 such that an image on this photoelectric surface 2 is presented to an output window 5 side by an electron lens electrode 3. A fluorescent film 4 is applied on the inner surface of the output window 5 while the output window 5 forming the fluorescent film 4 is recessed to be rotationally symmetrical with respect to the axis. Thus, the distorsion of the image on the periphery of the image tube is reduced to improve uniformly the luminance and resolution throughout the whole picture.
