Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the omission of preheating process of a metal mold and thereby raise the production efficiency by injecting steam when preliminarily-foamed grains with high heat-resisting property are filled in a mold pit. CONSTITUTION:On the occasion when foamed grains obtained by foaming preliminarily thermoplastic resin grains with foaming property are filled in a mold pit 3 of a forming mold and heated by some heating medium such as steam to be expanded and formed, perliminarily-foamed grains with excellent heat-resisting property (suitably, copolymer of sytrene and maleic anhudride or the blended material of the copolymer with any other thermoplastic resins) are filled in the mold pit 3 from a material inlet port 4 by a filler 4 and simultaneously the steam is injected therein from a boost nozzle 42. The foaming itself is expedited only slightly even with the simultaneous injection of preliminarily-foamed grains with so higher heat-resisting property as 20-25 deg.C than that of the polystyrene used so far and steam, while the time required for heating is shortened sharply because the air among the grains is expelled from the mold pit 3 by the steam.
